How to get more sun?? Why would we want to incorporate more sun into our lives? Well because the sun is not all that bad. While it can be in some cases, it’s not if used correctly. Kinda like your chainsaw will chop something off if you don’t use it correctly. Like staring at the computer can negatively impact your eyesight. Or maybe like eating too much processed foods will make you ill, well its the same for the sun. Like everything you just have to use the sun correctly. It’s important to remember that humans lived outside with very little clothes and barefoot for a long time before moving inside with clothes and shoes.
Watch every sunrise and sunset indefinitely! Okay that may be a little difficult for modern life, but you should really make as much effort to see the sunrise and sunset. Both contain large amounts of infrared and red light. Infrared light has been proven to have healing effects for our bodies to the cellular level. The sun is less likely to be polarized meaning the rays are going everywhere bathing our entire body.
Exercise outside in the sunshine. Maybe do yoga in the morning while the sun rises or in the evening at sunset. If you want a challenge do a HIIT workout in the afternoon in the summer (as long as your in the health and condition to do so). I really like to exercise outside in the fall, winter, and spring months. I like to go on hikes for my exercise. I backpack a lot so this is also good conditioning for carrying a heavy pack for a few miles. It’s harder in the summer months due to weather being so hot, so my workouts ease up and I do more yoga. I like to backpack all months of the year so I count these times as exercise too. The point is you can do a lot outside and still get a great workout.
Layout more in the Sun!! I know this may be a controvestrai statement to tell someone to intentionally sit outside in skimpy clothes in the sun without any sun screen or sun glasses. There are a few things that you must do to be successful. The days you are going to layout you have to see the sunrise that morning for as long as you can. I try to look at the sunrise the whole time it is red, of course in the summer it’s not as long as in the winter. So I try to see the sunrise everyday even if I don’t layout that day. If you feel your skin getting hot go to the shade or take a break. You must make sure your are caring for your skin with a moisturizer that your skin can use that is not laden with a bunch of chemicals, plastics, or rancid seed oils. Coconut oil and shea butter make good moisturizers.
Park as far away as possible. When I have to go to the store I try to park as far away as I can. This forces me to be outside more. This also forces me to get a little uncomfortable sometimes, which is important for our overall health. Our body does special things when we get cold or too hot. So it is good for us to be a little uncomfortable sometimes. This also serves as a way get extra steps in. You can also wear ankle weights to get more of a workout while you get more sunshine.
Eat lunch outside. I know this can be hard because maybe we eat with friends or co-workers and they are not aligned with a sun filled lifestyle. I leave my co-workers behind when it is nice and sometimes not so nice outside and I eat in my special spot. Working in a healthcare facility, a school, or office building means you are bathing in blue light all the time. So going outside during the day is exactly what your body needs to get through the day.
Do a hobby outside. I love to read so I read outside a lot. Play games outside with your family and friends. Keep a journal and make your entries outside. Painting, drawing, almost all art can be done outside. I really envy people who work from home because they can work outside and most squatter this privilege away. Yoga and pilates are very versatile and can be preformed in many different settings. I’m typing this blog outside. Cook outside. I love to grill on the back porch in the summer, well all year. I love to sit at the patio table and watch the chickens peck the ground. Plant a garden of anything. It can be plants in and around your house. Plants make great filters and deterents for bugs and pests, but be careful because some plants may not be safe for you or your pets because of toxins or they may attract the very pests you are trying to steer clear of.
Get some Chickens. If you don’t want crowing don’t get a rooster. If you don’t have a rooster you will probably have a more vocal female that is the most dominant, which is good because she will help protect the flock, it appears chickens have their own language. Chickens are very docile and just fun to watch. I have spent many hours outside just watching and observing their behaviors. They are a lot of fun to watch. Chickens are not only fun to watch they provide eggs which are fun to eat. While I am partial to chickens, it doesn’t have to be chickens you can get any animal that requires you to spend time outside like a dog, goat, horse, fox, whatever it is as long as it gets you outside.
Crack your car window or open your moon/sun roof or do both and allow some sunshine into the car. Glass, especially tinted glass, blocks a lot of the light waves so opening your window will allow it to come in. This also helps with getting some cold exposure in the winter months or on colder days. Cracking your windows helps get the radio waves out of the car so your not driving in a tuna can with radio waves dancing around your body the whole it. This also applies to your house. I like to open every window I possibly can especially the south facing windows and allow as much sunlight into my home as possible. If I have to do stuff in the house then I open all the windows I can. I do this mostly on nice days. It’s also a good way to air out your car and house.
Wash your car more. Lets face it some of us live in filth and most of it is in our cars. It’s so easy to go through the drive through and leave our empty wrappers and bottles behind as we drag ourselves into our homes for bed. Washing your car (mostly inside) will not only help your overall health by helping keep your immune system strong it will help your mental health. I know that when my space around me is clean I feel better. I feel more at peace and I have a calmness with my environment is organized and clean. Clutter and filth make me feel anxious.
Work from home or get a job outside. I know this may not be feasible for most. I know that I have to go to work everyday in a bluelit, electromagnetic fleld that I can’t control or do anything about. I apply all the other tactics so that my body can tolerate what I can’t control like where I work. While I can’t really control my work situation right now that doesn’t mean that you are in the same boat as me. Maybe you can get a job where you can work from home and have more control over being outside and seeing the sun the way you should. Maybe you can get a job in a park or plant nursery.
